About Ivan

I was born in Bulgaria, grew up in South Africa, and have proudly called Australia home since 2001. My journey into counselling hasn’t been a straight line—it’s been shaped by both professional experience and personal growth.

Before becoming a counsellor, I built a career in robotics and engineering project management, holding a Bachelor of Engineering from UNSW. For many years, I managed large-scale projects for well-known brands in high-pressure environments. After my father passed away in 2019, I stepped in to run his manufacturing business, guiding it through the challenges of Covid, expanding it, and eventually selling it successfully.

During this time, I felt a deep calling to move in a new direction—one that aligned more closely with my values and faith. My Christian faith played a big part in this change. I no longer measure success purely in financial terms, but by the positive impact I can have in people’s lives.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from Alpha Crucis and I’m currently completing a Bachelor of Psychology at Macquarie University. I’m also a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and maintain full professional indemnity insurance for your peace of mind.

What I bring into the counselling room is a unique blend of life experience, a systematic approach to problem-solving, and a genuine passion for helping people. My background in high-pressure industries has given me resilience and structure, while my personal journey has taught me empathy and understanding.
